Playable Disc. Playable Xbox.

Just one day after my post about the unplayable Xbox 360, it magically healed itself…almost. I decided to try one more thing before calling it quits; so I completely dismantled the DVD drive. Then reassembled it. My last resort seems to have fixed the problem temporarily if not permanently.

The celebratory activities include many sessions of GTA IV, followed by more GTA IV. Now that I’ve voided my warrantee, I think it’s time to have a red, or maybe black Xbox.

Unplayable Disc. Unplayable Xbox.

Over the past four months or so, my Xbox has decided to slowly, and painfully follow suite of most other Xbox’s and develop the “unplayable disc” issue. I was prepared for this, since nearly every Microsoft-backed item I’ve ever owned has broken fairly early in it’s life. Fortunately, my Xbox has lasted longer than most, and had a very enjoyable life. Oh, the hours spent playing Guitar Hero, Call of Duty 4, not to mention Halo 3.

About two weeks ago I decided it was time. I was going to void my warrantee, pop open my Xbox and fix the problem myself. After following several tutorials on YouTube, I came to realize my problem was different from the popular loose magnet problem. I am now going to try a series of dvd drives to see if any are compatible with the Xbox, and if I am not so lucky it appears Amazon will come to the rescue.
